Competition Rules

The AFA is the Australian AIDA body, all AIDA competitions world wide use the same rules:- AIDA v12 Rules

Record Rules

All valid performances(without penalties) in AIDA ranking competitions that exceed a current national record automatically become the new national record. It is possible to set records outside of competition by doing a record attempt. The following requirements need to be met before doing a record attempt:-


  • You must announce the record attempt to the AFA minimum of 4 weeks before the event.

  • You must be a current financial member of AFA.

  • You must pay a fee of $50 to accompany the announcement, this will include 1 attempt.

  • Each following attempt will cost $25, this can be paid after the records attempts are completed.

The AFA will keep a list of current judges and will be able to help locate judges for you. After the event is completed the Judges will need to send in the Judges Report to the AFA. For further information or to announce a record please contact us on "info -at- australianfreediving -dot- org"
